University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix names dean: 5 things to know

The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix named Guy Reed, MD, as dean of the college.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Reed and his career.

1. He received his undergraduate degree from New York City-based Columbia University and received his medical degree from Stanford (Calif.) University.

2. For nearly a decade, Dr. Reed worked as a cardiologist at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital and as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, also in Boston.

3. His research focused on the mechanism of blood clots and vascular disease and he received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to fund his research.

4. Dr. Reed will be the college of medicine's third dean.
