Tennessee's Saint Thomas Health Joins YMCA, Tech Groups in Pilot for Accountable Care

Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health has joined a handful of healthcare companies to form MissionPoint Health Partners, creating a unique mix of healthcare services for 15,000 people in central Tennessee, according to a joint news release.

The collaboration includes Saint Thomas Health, Cisco Systems, Crimson Services (a physician management software company), YMCA of Middle Tennessee and Applied Health Analytics. The group plans to operate much like an accountable care organization, with a patient-centered approach, according to the release. Payment for Mission services will also be based on outcomes.

The pilot will launch in Jan. 2012 and of the 15,000 people it will cover, 6,500 will be Saint Thomas employees. It hopes to have 35,000 members by its full rollout in Jan. 2013.
