Seattle Children's Hospital's first therapy dog retires after 11 years

Alia Paavola -

Seattle Children's Hospital's first therapy dog, Abe, retired after 11 years of service, according to WTNH.

The beloved golden retriever made his last rounds in August because he started experiencing various health problems due to old age.

"I always said he was born to be a therapy dog," Judith Bonifaci, Abe's owner, told WTNH. "From the moment I met him, I could tell he was an old soul who had a special purpose in life."

Abe will spend the rest of his years relaxing at home.
