Park Nicollet in Minnesota Forms ACO With Non-Profit Insurer Medica

St. Louis Park, Minn.-based Park Nicollet Health Services is teaming up with non-profit payor Medica to establish an accountable care organization option for people who receive insurance coverage from employers purchasing Medica health plans, according to a news release.

Park Nicollet First with Medica, the name for the ACO option will be available starting Nov. 1.

Patients in the new ACO will have access to Park Nicollet's 20 primary care clinics as well as specialists affiliated with the health system. Patients with be able to use Park Nicollet's six urgent care facilities and the system's specialty centers, which include a heart and vascular center, a diabetes center and an institute for eating disorders, among other specialized care centers.

Individuals choosing the ACO option will also have access to Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, a 426-bed facility in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Other services linked to the new ACO include a 24/7 nurse advisor phone line and a text messaging service, CareWire, that guides patients to and through appointments.
