The Ohio State Medical Association announced it is teaming up with physician practices, health systems and corporate partners to launch a public health campaign that aims to get physicians involved in reducing prescription drug abuse.
The campaign, called Smart Rx — Smart Medicine and Responsible Treatment, brings physicians from across the state together to address the drug issue as a unified front for the first time.
An integral part of the campaign is the online education program, which consists of four 15-minute digital training courses to help prescribers stay up-to-date on regulations, how to stay compliant, treatment alternatives and patient education strategies.
Participating Ohio health systems and groups include the Ohio Hospital Association, Cincinnati-based HealthSpan, Gallipolis-based Holzer Health System, Kettering (Ohio) Health Network, Cincinnati-based Mercy Health, Cleveland-based MetroHealth, Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus-based OhioHealth and The Toledo Clinic.
Participating corporate partners include Medtronic, Pfizer, PhRMA and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
