Ohio Independent Collaborative adds 225 physicians

225-physician The Toledo (Ohio) Clinic has joined the rapidly growing Ohio Independent Collaborative, bringing its total number of physicians to more than 800.

The groups joining the collaborative will keep their names and remain independent, but will work together to improve clinical quality, patient care and access to care. The OIC also provides members with strategic business benefits, such as group purchasing opportunities.

"Physicians collaborating together can offer much more to the patients in terms of quality of care and cost savings. The majority of the members of the Ohio Independent Collaborative are on the same EMR system, which will greatly improve patient care and communication," The Toledo Clinic President Ian Elliot, MD, said in a statement.

The Toledo Clinic joins shortly after Columbus-based Central Ohio Primary Care.

Other members of OIC include:

  • Community Health Care (Canal Fulton, Ohio)
  • Northern Ohio Medical Specialists/NOMS Healthcare (Sandusky)
  • Pioneer Physicians Network (Akron, Ohio)
  • Premier Physicians (Westlake, Ohio)
  • Unity Health Network (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)
