A new online dermatology program launched by a Georgia dermatologist has been adopted into the curricula of The University of Texas' Tyler Nurse Practitioners program and PHS School of Nursing in Abilene, Texas.
The program, called Derm for Primary Care, aims to provide non-dermatologic physicians and mid-level medical providers with the skills needed to diagnose and manage common skin issues. David Kent, MD, a dermatologist in Macon, Ga., developed the program to fill the gap in patient access to care and broaden the skills of primary care providers. The program offers audiovisual lessons, clinical examples and real-time diagnostic and management guidelines.
