New England Baptist Hospital, an orthopedic specialty hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, both in Boston, are aiming to create a top orthopedics destination through a strategic partnership.

The two organizations, along with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC, will form a joint venture led by New England Baptist Hospital. The joint venture will form a system of orthopedic care, education and research.

The hospitals will remain independent, but will develop a clinical integration strategy through the joint venture.

"Our two institutions share a common vision for a system of orthopedic care that leads the region and nation, and together we have the capability to ensure that it happens," Trish Hannon, president and CEO of NEBH, said in a news release.

Kevin Tabb, MD, president and CEO of BIDMC, said, "Strong affiliations, in which combined strengths can be leveraged, are critical success factors for our future. We recognize the strength of the NEBH brand for orthopedics and believe that working together, we will provide distinctly better care at lower costs, and in the longer term, we will significantly improve the health and mobility of all the people we will serve."
