NASCAR donates $1M to NYU Langone Medical Center

Daytona Beach, Fla.-based The NASCAR Foundation plans to give $1 million to help hospitalized children at New York City-based NYU Langone Medical Center.

The donation is part of a multi-year partnership through which The NASCAR Foundation will benefit the Child Life Program at the Hassenfeld Children's Hospital of New York at NYU Langone.

Since 2006, The NASCAR Foundation has donated $25 million to charitable causes and assisted more than one million children through its involvement with various organizations.

This is the organization's first multi-year partnership with a hospital in New York.

The $1 million gift to NYU Langone will fund two Child Life specialists and provide supplies and equipment to Hassenfeld Children's Hospital of New York patients.

"As leaders in the field of pediatrics, we're proud to partner with the NASCAR Foundation whose generous philanthropic support provides extensive and meaningful programs to help children and families," said Catherine Manno, MD, the Pat and John Rosenwald professor and chair of the department of pediatrics at NYU Langone.

The partnership will be honored at the first annual The NASCAR Foundation Honors Gala in New York City Sept. 27.
