Medical Directors' Duties Tied to Quality Measures: Survey

Increasingly, the responsibilities and duties of medical directors are being tied to quality metrics, according to a survey from MGMA.

Of surveyed medical directors, 44 percent reported their duties are tied in some form to quality metrics. More than 75 percent said those metrics related to patient satisfaction and quality of care, and roughly 35 percent reported duties tied to patient safety metrics.

"Incorporating quality metrics into medical directors' duties and compensation underscores practices' commitment to serving their communities," said Susan Turney, MD, MGMA president and CEO, in a news release.

Data was based on responses from 1,621 medical directors in 227 organizations.
