Med student matches to residency at hospital where he is receiving cancer treatment

A student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health who was diagnosed with cancer three months ago had a very unique Match Day experience last Friday, according to Channel 3000.

"I only ranked one program, which is a bit odd, but I only ranked the University of Wisconsin, as my treatment will overlap at the beginning of my residency," Hoffman told Channel 3000.

In the New Year, he began a six-month treatment at UW Hospital. He was selected for a residency in otolaryngology, according to the report.
