KishHealth's physician group to triple in size through acquisition

DeKalb, Ill.-based KishHealth System will triple the size of its physician group division in 2015 with the purchase of DeKalb Clinic in Sycamore, Ill., according to a report from The MidWeek.

Currently, KishHealth Systems' physician group consists of 10 employed physicians and three mid-level practitioners, while DeKalb Clinic is comprised of 20 employed physicians. Additionally, 10 physicians have with contracts with DeKalb Clinic. Most of these physicians will become KishHealth System employees, company President and CEO Kevin Poorten told The MidWeek.

KishHealth System operates more than 15 facilities and DeKalb Clinic will be its seventh primary care facility in the KishHealth System Physician Group.

Financial details were not disclosed, but Mr. Poorten indicated the purchase cost less than $12 million, saying the acquisition did not need approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, according to the report.
