Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Ill., has acquired 42-physician multi-specialty group Affinity Healthcare, based in Riverwoods, Ill., according to a Daily Herald report.
Northwest announced plans to acquire Affinity earlier this year. A hospital representative said in the report it plans to acquire other groups in the next few years.
Northwest's CEO Bruce Crowther said increased employment of physicians is a result of increasing demands and decreased reimbursement for physician practices. He added the days of one- or two- physicians practices "are numbered, especially over the next five years."
