Hospital Executives See Future Payer Partnerships

Hospitals are increasingly partnering with federal and private payers in risk-based contracting to improve cost efficiencies, according to a survey of hospital executives.

The risk-based contracting between hospitals and payers relies on healthcare IT solutions to manage patients, track supply chain activity and contain costs, according to the release.

Hospital executives are looking for new approaches and healthcare IT solutions to cut cost and improve value and quality including population health management and enterprise business intelligence solutions control, the survey found.

The concern with cost efficiencies stems from anxiety over reimbursement cuts: More than 60 percent of surveyed executives said reimbursement reductions is one of their chief concerns.

The research report was based on a survey of hospital executives by ITG Market research.
