HHS Awards $19.3M to Train Primary Care Providers

HHS will distribute $19.3 million in funding to medical schools and physician assistant programs across the country to support the training of primary care providers, according to an HHS news release.

The Primary Care Training and Enhancement grants are funded by HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration, and include funds to train medical students for careers in primary care; develop curriculum for primary care residency programs; support programs that train physician assistants and PA program faculty; train physician to teach in primary care programs; and establish and maintain academic administrative units that provide clinical instruction in primary care.
