Health Insurers Paying Physicians Faster
Health insurers are paying physicians seven days faster and denying 12-18 percent fewer claims than the year before, according to a release by Athenahealth.
Athenahealth, a health IT software company, reports Humana ranked first in overall performance among 137 payors measured and first among commercial payors, which also included Aetna, Cigna and UnitedHealthcare.
Meanwhile New York Medicaid exhibited the worst performance, averaging more than 137 days to pay a claim, or more than double the average for the other Medicaid programs ranked by Athenahealth.
