DuPage Medical Group to add cardiovascular practice

The Chicago area's largest multi-specialty physician group is adding 20 physicians and four nurse practitioners to its ranks.

Joliet, Ill.-based Heartland Cardiovascular Center announced its intent Monday to join Downers Grove, Ill.-based DuPage Medical Group. The agreement is pending due diligence and contract negotiations, but if all is approved, the cardiology group is set to join DMG by December 1. The groups will operate independently until the due diligence period is through.

Heartland Cardiovascular Center has nine locations and a research foundation, which provides educational and research services.

"Joining DuPage Medical Group is a great opportunity for our staff and patients," Abdul H. Sankari, MD, president of Heartland Cardiovascular Center, said in a statement. "We share similar philosophies and are committed to physician directed medicine. Our patients will benefit from having access to additional specialties and technology, and we'll have the ability to add more cutting-edge services."
