CMS Names 89 New Medicare ACOs

CMS has named 89 new accountable care organizations that will participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, effective this month.

The new Medicare ACOs will coordinate care for nearly 1.2 million beneficiaries in 40 states and in Washington, D.C.

With the addition of the new Medicare ACOs, 154 organizations across the nation currently participate in Medicare shared savings initiatives, according to CMS.

The application for organizations that wish to participate in the MSSP beginning January 2013 is open from Aug. 1 through Sept. 6 of this year.

The 89 new ACOs participating in the MSSP program are listed here, along with their respective locations:
