Beaumont Health, Oakwood ACO and United Physicians form clinically integrated network

Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health, Dearborn, Mich.-based Oakwood ACO and Bingham Farms, Mich.-based United Physicians are teaming up to contract directly with health insurers, employers, small businesses and unions in a joint business venture in which patients would receive healthcare exclusively from Beaumont, according to Crain's Detroit Business.

The joint venture, called Beaumont Care Partners, is a clinically integrated network that includes eight of Beaumont's hospitals, outpatient centers and other post-acute care facilities.

The arrangement is intended to "[get] us ready" to contract with customers in a narrow network, which is intended to control costs and utilization and improve quality and patient outcomes, said Bill Isenstein, BCP's executive director and executive director of the Oakwood ACO, according to the report.

Through a management plan that is still under development, BCP will contract with insurers, employers and other entities in a variety of reimbursement models. Providers will be awarded bonus payments for meeting quality, use, cost and outcome targets, according to the report.
