4 hospital-physician issue stories making the rounds this week: April 10-14

The resignation of three Iowa physicians, the identity of the man ousted from a United Airlines flight and stories involving HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, and his ideas about Medicare and his time as a physician all caught the eyes of Becker's Hospital Review integration and physicians' issues readers this week.

1. Resignation of 3 physicians sparks great concern in small Iowa community
Residents of Akron, Iowa, are fighting to keep three local family medicine physicians from Akron (Iowa) Mercy Medical Clinic in business.

2. Physician from United flight identified
The identity of the man dragged from the overbooked United Airlines flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville, Ky., has been revealed: David Dao, MD, a pulmonologist from Elizabethtown, Ky.  

3. Price to physicians: Submit more recommendations for alternative payment models
HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, said physicians should continue to submit ideas for how to move Medicare away from a fee-for-service model.

4. Medical resident pens letter to Tom Price: 'Remember the lessons you learned at Grady'
An internal medicine resident at Atlanta-based Grady Memorial Hospital penned a letter in STAT to HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, asking him to remember the many "Grady stories" he collected during his time as a resident and faculty member at the hospital and to keep those patients and their stories in mind as he crafts the nation's healthcare policy.
