Massena Memorial Hospital in New York Strikes New Deal With Union Workers

Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital has struck a new three-year deal with approximately 200 union workers that include ancillary services staff, coders, transcriptionists and clerical staff, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

Under the new agreement, union employees will receive a 2 percent raise for this year, plus a $500 bonus payment to compensate for weeks worked so far this year without the raise. Union employees will also receive 2 percent raises in 2012 and 2013, according to the report.

Union staff members will also pay higher out-of-pocket maximums for prescriptions and physician visits and receive one free annual physical exam under the new accord. The hospital's unionized nursing staff members are still working with hospital administration on a deal that would go into effect after the current deal expires at the end of the year, according to the report.
