Update: Recall committee presses for resignation of 3 Park Hospital District board members

A group of residents in Estes Park, Colo., is calling for a recall of three Park Hospital District board members.

In December, the residents created a formal recall committee to remove Park Hospital District Board President Diana Van Der Ploeg, PhD, over concerns about potential violations of state law, hospital policies and general unsound management, according to the Estes Park Trail-Gazette.

"A citizens' lawyer has been retained and we are gathering signatures required by law to hold a recall election," Stacy Ferree, one of five members serving on the PHD Recall Committee, told Becker's via email.

Now, the citizen group is calling for the recall of two additional board members, Chuck Levine and Ryan White. The group cites various reasons for wanting a recall election on its website, claiming the three board members demonstrated a breach of public trust, showed a general disregard for adherence to board policies and conducted improper board procedure relative to executive sessions, among other concerns.

Estes Park Medical Center told the Estes Park Trail-Gazette in December Dr. Van Der Ploeg was working with the hospital's legal counsel to review the concerns raised by residents and had not found wrongdoing.

The hospital did not respond to Becker's Hospital Review's request to comment.
