UNC Health Care, MedAssets renew relationship

Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care System and healthcare performance improvement company MedAssets have announced their renewed agreement to continue working together to drive down costs and improve quality.

Under the agreement, UNC Health Care will continue to employ a number of MedAssets' solutions to optimize its total cost management strategy and clinically-align its supply chain.

The healthcare industry is seeing an increase in pricing scrutiny and complex compliance issues due to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's pressures on reimbursements and shift toward value, according to MedAssets COO Mike Nolte. MedAssets' solutions are helping UNC Health Care to make informed decisions in light of major industry changes.

"We are honored by the opportunity to partner with UNC Health Care to support their competitiveness in a rapidly changing environment so that they can sustain their teaching mission and provide state-of-the-art patient care to their community," said Mr. Nolte.
