St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center to Cut 24 Jobs

St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center in Saginaw is cutting 24 jobs and reducing work hours for another 46 employees.

St. Mary's of Michigan President and CEO John Graham said the hospital is busy and providing volumes of care comparable to last year, but "the types of patients we are seeing is changing," according to the release. "We are not caring for as many highly complicated, surgical patients."

The CEO said an increase in outpatient care and improved care management from primary care physicians prompted the workforce reduction, as did pressure to reduce costs.

The hospital is also modifying its outpatient services hours and consolidating services at a few undisclosed locations.
