Austin Texas-based St. David's HealthCare announced the opening today of a new 24-bed wing devoted to emergency and intensive care for children ages 17 and under at St. David's North Austin (Texas) Medical Center.
The doors opened at 7 a.m. this morning, making the 332-bed medical center the only area hospital to offer full care from birth through adulthood, according to the statement.
The new wing includes a 10-bed emergency department, an 8-bed inpatient surgery unit and a 6-bed intensive care unit. The children's hospital will provide a range of pediatric services, which include surgery, radiology, anesthesia, and a variety of specialty services such as cardiology, orthopedics, neurology and urology, according to the statement.
St. David's North Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare, one of the largest systems in the state. St. David's includes seven hospitals and more than 90 sites in central Texas.
