Philadelphia Shriner's Hospital appoints board chairman

Philadelphia Shriner's Hospital named G. Fred Widmyer chairman of the board, after eight years of service, according to Herald-Mail Media.

During his tenure on the board of governors, Mr. Widmyer has served on a number of committees, and chaired the Budget and Finance Committee and the Temple Relations Committee, which he organized, according to the report.

Mr. Widmyer has been a Shriner for more than 40 years and a Master Mason, the highest degree of Freemasonry, for 48 years, according to the report. He has been a recorder for 22 years for Ali Ghan Shriner's, part of Shriner's International, according to the report.

Mr. Widmyer had a 37-year career with Goodyear Tire Co., after gaining 35 years of experience with Kelly Tire Co., a Goodyear subsidiary, according to the report.
