Mercy Health-Cincinnati and Walgreens sign clinical collaboration agreement

Mercy Health-Cincinnati and Walgreens have signed a clinical collaboration agreement, under which the two will provide coordinated and expanded healthcare services while improving healthcare access for patients in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Working with Healthcare Clinic at select Walgreens, Mercy Health-Cincinnati will have the ability to help manage the treatment of chronic diseases and provide care options for patients with serious conditions outside of the clinics' scope of services.

While the collaboration will not eliminate the need for primary care physicians and medical homes for ongoing needs, it will provide residents with access to care that is high-quality and affordable, seven days a week.

Mercy Health-Cincinnati CMO and President of Mercy Health Physicians Dan Roth, MD, expressed excitement regarding the collaboration and its benefits for the communities.

"Our agreement with Walgreens extends quality care directly into our communities to provide greater access for patients, which is absolutely in line with our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve," said Dr. Roth.

Walgreens Vice President of Strategic Clinical Partnerships Alan E. London expressed similar sentiments.

"Working with a highly integrated health system such as Mercy Health-Cincinnati offers an ideal opportunity to further coordinate patient care in the greater Cincinnati region," said Mr. London. "We look forward to working together to help patients in these communities get, stay and live well."

The collaboration currently includes services at 13 Walgreens locations in Ohio and Kentucky.
