McCready Memorial Hospital Initiates Layoffs

The McCready Foundation, the parent of McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, Md., has started laying off employees due to decreases in patient volume and reimbursements, according to a Delmarva Now report.

McCready includes the 16-bed hospital as well as a nursing home and outpatient center.

According to the report, McCready's inpatient volume has dropped more than 75 percent over recent years. Additionally, patient volumes in its emergency department have dropped 18 percent, and outpatient visits are down 31 percent over the last four years.

There was no word on how many employees will be affected by the current round of layoffs, as some employees were offered other positions and are weighing their options, according to the report.

Last year, McCready laid off 18 employees.
