Illinois' St. John's Hospital Hopes for Turnaround With $162M Surgery Expansion
St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill., is asking for state approval of a $162 million expansion, the largest in its history, according to a report in State Journal-Register.
The project would consolidate inpatient surgery in a new building, adding 16 new ORs opening in summer 2013.
Officials at the Catholic hospital, which has posted several money-losing years recently, hope income from surgical services will cover money-losing services.
