A Congressional Budget Office score for the House-approved version of the American Health Care Act could force the chamber to revise and re-vote on the ACA replacement plan, reports Politico.
Here are four things to know.
1. The House approved the American Health Care Act May 4 in a 217-213 vote.
2. The measure has not yet made it to the Senate, as House leaders are still waiting on a CBO score, according to the report. The CBO expects to release a score for the AHCA next week.
3. In the meantime, House leaders have kept the AHCA "out of an abundance of caution," a House GOP leadership source told Politico. But the source indicated the ACA replacement plan will very likely move to the Senate after the score is released.
4. Republican lawmakers aim to pass the AHCA using budget reconciliation rules, which require the CBO estimate to show the bill will decrease spending by at least $2 billion, according to the report. The reconciliation would also allow the AHCA to pass the Senate with 51 votes.
