Gallup: 26% of the world's population has a 'good' job

Last week, Gallup released its newest report: the 2016 Global Great Jobs Report, which reveals the number of people worldwide who have "good" or "great" jobs.

As part of the report, Gallup analyzed occupational data from more than 130 countries. Gallup classified "good" jobs as those through which employees to work full-time — 30 or more hours per week — and receive a paycheck from their employer. "Great" jobs carry similar characteristics, but with an added bonus: Employees report being actively engaged in their work.

Here are four findings from Gallup's 2016 Global Great Jobs Report.

1. Twenty-six percent of adults worldwide have a good job. This equates to roughly 1.3 billion people.

2. The percentage of people with a good job varies from continent to continent. Approximately 43 percent of North Americans have good jobs, 35 percent of Europeans have good jobs and 25 percent of Asians have good jobs.

3. Four percent of working adults around the world have great jobs. Throughout most of the countries analyzed by Gallup, the percentage of adults with a great job rarely exceeds 10 percent.

4. This disparity is tracked across continents. Eleven percent of North Americans have great jobs, while only 4 percent of Europeans and 2 percent of Asians can say the same.
