Franciscan Alliance to Trim 125 Positions in Illinois

Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Alliance plans to cut roughly 125 employees from Franciscan St. James Health-Olympia Fields (Ill.), Franciscan St. James Health-Chicago Heights (Ill.) and related outpatient clinics, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.

The cuts represent 6 percent of the locations' workforce. Employees in ancillary, support and clinical positions will be affected, according to the report. The workforce reduction is due to lower inpatient volumes.

Earlier this year, Franciscan Alliance announced it was looking for a system to take over the two hospitals. According to Crain's, Franciscan Alliance is still seeking a joint venture partner or a system to acquire the organizations.
