Republican Orange County, Fla., physician Usha Jain, MD, included the phrase "accept Cigna" on yard signs advocating her Florida House seat bid, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.
Dr. Jain's sign features "accept Cigna" in large letters under her name. Dr. Jain told Orlando Sentinel a friend helped her design the signs and she did not know why the name of the Bloomfield, Conn.-based payer was included.
The campaign is not being used to endorse her practice, Dr. Jain, an emergency medicine and pediatrics physician, added. "I don't need to go into politics to bring in business," she told Orlando Sentinel.
Including Cigna's name does not interfere with Florida's law regarding political advertising, the report states.
Dr. Jain also plans on vying for state governor next year.
