Florida hospitals will lose $287.3 million in Medicaid funding as part of a new state budget passed by the legislature and sent to Gov. Charlie Crist to sign, according to a report by the Orlando Business Journal.

Hospitals will have to deal with the 7 percent rate cut, going into effect in July, at a time when statewide Medicaid patient volume has risen by 300,000 a year.
