Conservative group launches $2.6M ad campaign for ACA repeal, replacement

Nonprofit advocacy group American Action Network rolled out a $2.6 million consumer-facing media campaign Jan. 25 urging lawmakers to repeal and replace the ACA, Politico reports.

The campaign aims to highlight deficiencies in the ACA, such as increased premium rates and "decreased access" to healthcare services. The media blitz runs in 41 districts and includes TV, digital and print ads as well as mailers.

Against a visual montage of people jogging and children playing, one TV ad claims, "With skyrocketing premiums, trillions in new taxes and decreased access to quality coverage, American families and businesses have few good choices. They know it's time for a change."

The group also plans to mail voters quotes from Democratic congressional members to call their ethos and credibility into question. One quote features Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) advocating for the ACA's original passage in 2010: "We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it."

American Action Network describes itself as an "action tank" working to promote "center-right policies based on the principles of freedom, limited government, American exceptionalism and strong national security."
