Children's hospital takes old name back, launches network with Stanford

After 12 years as Children's Hospital Central California, the Madera, Calif.-based hospital announced Wednesday it wants to go back to its roots before launching a new health network in the San Joaquin Valley, according to the Fresno Bee.

The 356-bed hospital will officially revert to its previous name, Valley Children's Hospital, early next year, but its website already made the switch. Most residents didn't realize the name ever changed, according to the Bee.

The rebrand comes with an agreement to launch a new pediatric care network with Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Children's Health. The partnership will build on existing clinical relationships to improve access to pediatric care, with the goal of providing care within 30 minutes for all patients to travel, according to report.

The partnership is not a merger, the report notes. The cost of the rebrand was not disclosed.
