CEO to know: Lance Jones of Coliseum Health System

 Lance Jones, PT, MHA, was named CEO of Macon, Ga.-based Coliseum Health System in September 2014.

Mr. Jones stepped into the new role after leading Knoxville, Tenn.-based Turkey Creek Medical Center as CEO for three years. He was honored as CEO of the Year in 2012 by Health Management Associates, the company that owned and operated Turkey Creek at the time. He was credited with launching a surgical weight loss center, developing a robotic-assisted surgery training center and improving scores on physician communication and patient satisfaction in the emergency room.

From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Jones served as CEO of Hartsville, S.C.-based Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, also an HMA hospital. In his tenure at Carolina Pines, two hours were cut off emergency room wait times, the medical staff grew and new services were added, like 4D ultrasound and digital mammography.

Mr. Jones has also served in leadership positions at hospitals in New Mexico and Texas. A New Zealand native, Mr. Jones first moved to the United States in 1994 to attend the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
