Question: What do you enjoy most about Cleveland?

Dr. Toby Cosgrove: Cleveland has truly evolved over the years and I enjoy the variety it has to offer. It has all of the benefits of a large city — such as great sports teams, theaters, museums, the lake, education, healthcare and more — but with a small town feel. It's a great city and I'm proud to call Cleveland home.

Q: Who is someone you consider a role model in your life and why?

TC: That's a difficult question. I've had the chance to connect with so many other leaders across industries over the years that have helped me personally learn and grow. I've had great opportunities to bring new ideas back to help Cleveland Clinic and its patients.

Q: What's your favorite part of being a healthcare CEO?

TC: Healthcare affects every single person in the United States and the industry is going through an unprecedented transformation. I am privileged to be able to lead a healthcare institution that not only cares for millions of patients, but also serves as a model of healthcare for the future. We've been able to share our best practices with many others to help make care more accessible, affordable and of the highest quality possible.

Q: What is one of Cleveland Clinic's goals for 2017?

TC: We are very focused on making care affordable to patients. That's been an ongoing focus and will continue so all patients who need care can get it.
