AARP: Seniors' healthcare costs could rise by $16k under Graham-Cassidy

Senior citizens who make less than $25,000 annually could see their healthcare costs rise by as much as $16,714 per year under the Graham-Cassidy bill, according to a new study from AARP.

The study argues that block grant funding to states won't necessarily be used to replace federal cost-sharing reduction subsidies or premium subsidies rolled back by the bill, which could increase the cost of insurance for seniors who qualified for such subsidies under the ACA.

Under the Graham-Cassidy bill, states would also have the ability to waive age-rating limits that allow insurers to charge older people more than other consumers to buy into the marketplace.
