5 things to know about GE Healthcare's new CEO, Kieran Murphy

Kieran Murphy has been named the new CEO of GE Healthcare, effective immediately, after his predecessor John Flannery was tapped to be the CEO of General Electric.

Here are five fast facts you need to know about Mr. Murphy.

  1. Mr. Murphy was previously head of GE Healthcare Life Sciences, which he lead since 2011.
  2. The division grew under Mr. Murphy's watch and boasted annual revenue above $17 billion in 2015, with growth especially noted in the division's molecular medicine business, which now accounts for more than $4 billion in annual sales.
  3. He earned his bachelor's degree from University College, Dublin and a master's degree in marketing from the University of Manchester Institute of Science.
  4. He has over 20 years experience in biotechnology and global life sciences industries.
  5. Prior to his time at GE, Mr. Murphy held leadership roles at companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Mallinckrodt.
