3 North Carolina health systems name shared services company

Three North Carolina health systems — Greenville-based Vidant Health, Winston-Salem-based Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Raleigh-based WakeMed Health & Hospitals — have named their shared services company Socius Health Solutions.

The health systems said the Latin word socius, which means "partner, comrade, associate, ally, fellow," "reflects the individual healthcare systems' similar missions, visions, values and strategic focus."

Additionally, Socius Health is a fitting name, they said, because it combines the collective talents and best practices of the organizations while maintaining independence and current governance structures.

Socius Health will support healthcare reform initiatives, such as accountable care organization development and implementation and care coordination for population health, and create business and clinical efficiencies, according to a news release. The company will also help meet the challenges posed by reduced reimbursement rates as well as technological changes while maintaining a focus on patient-centered care, the release reads.
