Ten financially failing New Jersey hospitals received grants totaling $30 million from the N.J. Health Care Stabilization Fund to continue providing healthcare, according to a Record report.

A health department panel chose recipients based on nine criteria, including "extraordinary circumstances" that threaten a region's healthcare access, the hospital's role in treating uninsured patients and a hospital's plan for operating beyond the grant.

The recipients include:

1. Christ Hospital in Jersey City — $7 million

2. Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority in Hoboken — $4.1 million

3. Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and Old Bridge — $4 million

4. Saint Mary's Hospital in Passaic — $3.3 million

5. East Orange General Hospital in East Orange — $3 million

6. Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City — $3 million

7. St. Clare's Hospital in Denville — $1.8 million

8. Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood — $1.2 million

9. Our Lady of Lourdes Health Foundation in Camden — $1.2 million

10. Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth — $1.2 million
