VA appoints director of Alexandria VA Health Care System: 4 things to know

The Department of Veterans Affairs has appointed Peter Dancy as the new director of the Pineville, La.-based Alexandria VA Health Care System, according to a KALB report.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Dancy.

1. He has served in progressive leadership positions within the VA in major medical centers and the private sector, according to the report. He also was a U.S. Army Medical Service Corps officer for more than 20 years.

2. In his new role, Mr. Dancy will oversee healthcare delivery at a complexity level 3 facility serving veterans within 23 of Louisiana's 64 parishes, according to the report.

3. Mr. Dancy earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and a master's degree in business administration from St. Mary's University in San Antonio. He also earned a master's degree in health administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

4. Mr. Dancy is a board-certified healthcare executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives, was a surveyor with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and was a preceptor with the Baylor University Graduate Program in Health Administration.
