Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health President and CEO Bill Leaver has announced he will retire in January 2016. The health system has chosen Kevin Vermeer, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, to succeed him.
Mr. Leaver has served as president and CEO of UnityPoint Health, formerly known as Iowa Health System, since January 2008. He first joined the system in 2003 as president and CEO of Rock Island, Ill.-based Trinity Regional Health System, an affiliate of UnityPoint Health.
"I am proud of what has been accomplished during my tenure," Mr. Leaver said. "UnityPoint Health is well-positioned to reach new levels of success as the premier health care system in the region. I am confident that our mission of providing quality and compassionate care to improve the health of our communities is in trusted hands."
