Temporary Alegent Health CEO Agrees to Stay in Position

Richard Hachten, one of the founders of Alegent Health in Omaha, Neb., has agreed to stay on indefinitely as CEO and president after returning to the system last fall to improve physician-hospital relationships, according to a report by the Omaha World-Herald.

Last fall, physicians at two Alegent hospitals cast votes of no confidence against CEO Wayne Sensor, leading to Mr. Sensor's departure in October. The board decided to bring back Mr. Hachten, who retired as Alegent president in April 2009, for a two-year position.

Mr. Hachten said he has spent the last year meeting with physicians and addressing their concerns. Physicians were primarily concerned that heart surgery had been moved elsewhere and that Mr. Sensor increasingly relied on Alegent-employed physicians rather than independent physicians.
