Steven Patonai will take over as CEO of Wuesthoff Health System in Melbourne, Fla., today, hoping to end the long competitive friction with rival Health First, according to a Florida Today report.
He succeeds former CEO of Wuesthoff, Emil Miller. Oct. 1 marks a period of change for the hospital as the $145 million sale of Wuesthoff Health System to Health Management Associates becomes official.
Mr. Patonai said he will focus his priorities on making the transition to new ownership a smooth one, according to the report. Mr. Patonai has worked for 15 years in non-profit hospital systems and nine years in for-profits, including his most recent post as CEO of Auburn Regional Medical Center outside Seattle.
