Primary Care Development Corp. appoints Louise Cohen CEO: 7 things to know

The Primary Care Development Corp., a nonprofit organization based in New York City, has named Louise Cohen CEO.

Here are seven things to know about Ms. Cohen.

1. Ms. Cohen will begin her role in August.

2. Ms. Cohen is currently vice president for public health programs at Public Health Solutions, a leading national public health institute, where she manages a wide portfolio of programs focusing on child development, family nutrition, tobacco control, women's reproductive health and access to healthcare.

3. Ms. Cohen previously served as agency chief of staff and deputy commissioner for Health Care Access and Improvement at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she was responsible for Take Care New York (the city's health policy program), the Primary Care Information Project and the department's response to federal and state health reform. 

4. Ms. Cohen also served as director of the Park Slope Family Health Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and has directed a variety of community health worker programs both in New York and internationally.

5. Ms. Cohen earned a Master of Public Health from Hunter College in New York City and a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz.

6. Ms. Cohen has served on PCDC's Board of Directors since 2011.
