Presence Health CEO Sandra Bruce to retire

Sandra Bruce, president and CEO of Chicago-based Presence Health, has announced she will retire at the end of the year.

Ms. Bruce's healthcare leadership career spans more than 40 years. Previously, she served as president and CEO of Chicago-based Resurrection Health Care since 2008. Under her leadership, she successfully brought the system together with Provena Health to create the integrated health system, Presence Health, in 2011.

Earlier in her career, at age 29, she was appointed to her first CEO position at Berrien General Hospital in Berrien Center, Mich. She was not only the hospital's youngest CEO, but the first female CEO in its history.

Throughout her career, she has held several key roles in multiple state and national healthcare associations, including the Illinois Catholic Hospital Association Board and the Catholic Health Association of the United States Board, where she is a past chair of the board of trustees. Currently, she is the chair-elect of the Illinois Hospital Association board of trustees and a member of the American Hospital Association's Equity of Care Council.
