Parkland Hospital Announces Senior Leadership Changes

As part of a reorganization of its senior leadership team, Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas has announced five executive changes.

The reorganization is part of a corrective action plan to ensure changes in operations become permanent elements of culture at Parkland, according to the release. The new leadership team includes:

• Ron Laxton, RN, has been named interim COO for hospital operations. Mr. Laxton is currently serving as chief implementation officer under the system's improvement agreement with CMS. He previously served as CEO of Renown Regional Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Reno, Nev.
• Sharon Phillips, RN, has been named interim COO for Parkland's ambulatory care and behavioral health services. Ms. Phillips currently serves as executive in charge of off-campus operations for Parkland.
• Ted Shaw, CPA, FHFMA, has been named interim CFO. Mr. Shaw has served as CFO and CEO at both public and private healthcare organizations. He will replace John Dragovits, who recently announced his intention to leave Parkland.
• Mary Eagen, RN, was named CNO. Ms. Eagen has been serving as CNO for the past six months.
• Christopher Madden, MD, has been named interim CMO. Dr. Madden, a neurosurgeon at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, has been practicing at Parkland since 2003. He will serve as CMO until a permanent CMO is recruited.
