Ochsner Health CEO, 2 Others Named to MedPAC

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission has added three new members: Warner Thomas, MBA, president and CEO of Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Francis Crosson, MD, group vice president of the American Medical Association, and Kathy Buto, MPA.

The new members' terms will expire in April 2017.

MedPAC, established in 1997, advises Congress on payments to health plans that participate in the Medicare Advantage program and other Medicare programs.

"MedPAC serves an important advisory role. We were fortunate to again have an outstanding group of applicants, and I'm very pleased to announce the latest round of appointments to the Commission," Gene Dodaro, comptroller general of the United States and head of the Government Accountability Office, said in a news release.

Two existing MedPAC members were reappointed to the commission as well. They are Willis D. Gradison Jr., MBA, formerly a scholar in residence in the Health Sector Management Program at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and William Hall, MD, director for the Center of Healthy Aging at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
